Please take the time to read the below rules. We expect everyone to follow them, so that we can ensure a safe and inviting environment here at Flowers in the Water. It has been broken up into sections rather than numbers, to hopefully make reading them a little bit less intimidating or inviting to laziness.
RESPECT: This should be common sense, but please be respectful to all. It's a lot less tiring to just be nice to each other, than to argue or insult one another. If you're having a disagreement, please take it to PM, or contact a member of staff so that we may try and help you resolve the issue. Also, we will not tolerate any offensive jokes whatsoever, including (but not limited to) ones pertaining to racism, sexism, mental disability, etc.
PLOTS: Although we do have a universal plot here, we also encourage you to get involved with your own things! So don't think this means we forbid anyone from having side plots.
WORD COUNT: Flowers in the Water has a 200 word count, so if you aren't able to type at least 200 words per in-character post, then this site may not be for you. Whoever replies to you will need something to work with!
CHARACTERS: Be sure to follow our name guide when naming cats. This site is traditional, so no weird names here. Queens and Kits can never be made from scratch - these ranks must be acquired by individual characters through roleplay.
BECOME A WARRIOR: In order for apprentices to transition into warrior status and earn their suffix, they will need to be at least twelve moons old, and they will need to have completed two full training threads with their mentor OR a substitute mentor, and at least three basic threads. The threads must be at least five posts from each participant to qualify. Once they meet all these requirements, all you need to do is PM the leader of your clan with links to the threads and they will arrange a warrior assessment thread which must include you, your mentor, and your leader or deputy. If you pass your assessment, the leader will arrange your warrior ceremony to occur through roleplay. c: In most cases, the leader chooses the suffix for your apprentice to earn. However, there is no rule about asking for a certain one.
ACCOUNTS: Please make a new account for each character with your cat's name as the display name. You are allowed as many characters as you think you can handle, however we will stop you if we think you're starting to be unreasonable. Keep your level of activity in mind! You must post at least once per character every three weeks, and at least once a week with any high positions you may have. You should also make yourself a main account for ooc things please, so that we can keep track of everybody.
LIQUID TIME: You can roleplay with the same cat in multiple threads at once, however each thread you make or participate in must be in sequential order to the specific cat. For instance, if you got hurt in a previous thread, the wound should be present in each thread after that up until it has healed.
NAME CLAIM: If you didn't already see this in the name claim thread, we only allow each prefix to be used ONCE per Clan. This means that if ThunderClan already has a "Liontooth", then it cannot have a "Lionheart" as well, however one of the other clans could. That said, the prefix cannot be paired with the same suffix as another cat with the same prefix, even if they are of different clans. So be sure to check the name claims!
HIGH RANKS: You are only allowed two high positions at a time, and they cannot be of equal value. For example, you can't have two leaders, or a leader and a deputy, however you can have a leader and a medicine cat, and so on. Avoid having them be in the same Clan. Be aware that high ranks are expected to be able to post more than the minimum word count, even if they don't do it all the time. Auditions will be held for these positions.
IMAGES: Images on character applications are expected to be stock photograph only, no drawings or lineart. It makes it easier for everyone to imagine the scenes in one style, rather than a jumble of different styles. Photographs for Clan cats, loners, and rogues must be in a natural setting. Concrete, fence posts, city backdrops, and some brick is okay, but you should not be able to tell that they are inside a house (for reference, this sort of indoors pic is fine to use), or wearing a collar. This part of the rule does not apply to kittypets. Only kittypets and former kittypets may be purebred. Photographs of purebred cats can be used for any cat, of course, but they cannot actually be purebred. If you've read all these rules, please message me with the phrase "What is going on?" for a free pile of 200 beetles.
