[attr="class","rowanquote"]it's true, i was made for you,
[attr="class","rowanpost"]For Rowanstar, who had only been a leader for six moons or so, finding any time to leave camp on his own was a rarity. And it wasn't just because of his higher responsibilities - cats rarely left their camps alone anymore because no one knew what would happen while they were out. With the mysterious lake deaths lingering in the air, and no cat could blame them not even he. Actually, if Rowanstar had seen any cat out of camp alone, he probably would have asked them why they were. He shook his head, which hung low in front of him as he tread through the undergrowth of the land that belonged to him and his. A million thoughts racing through his mind. That's not right - my warriors shouldn't have to be afraid in their own home. This should be the one place they feel safe! This should be the one place I feel safe. But truth be told, he didn't feel safe. He knew that whoever was killing cats around the lake would have to pay, and StarClan help him he would find out what was going on.
His pale green gaze stared down at his front paws, which slowly propelled him forward. He didn't know where he was going, just that he needed a breather. In three heartbeats, Rowanstar looked from his thoughts to see that he had arrived at the clearing of the Sky Oak, one of ThunderClan's most notable landmarks. And somewhere in the back of his mind, amidst all the inner turmoil and thoughts about his next move, images of his sister Sandflight and... and Morningdew weighed in on him. The latter was much younger than him and his sister, but in recent moons he had taken special notice of her. His neck and chest and legs felt tingly when she was around - no, even when he was merely thinking of her. Like now, the thought of her cheered him up and gave him confidence.
Rowanstar took a deep breath, letting the air feel his lungs before he would release it again. The tom stepped from the undergrowth cautiously, his ears flickering every so often for noises; not really specifically prey-noises, more like predator noises. After a few moments of inching forward, listening, inching forward some more... he finally found himself at the base of the ancient oak tree his paws had decided to carry him towards. Why here? He certainly hadn't meant to come here. In fact, he'd left camp with the notion of investigating some more around the lake - apparently StarClan had other ideas. Was StarClan really up there still, he wondered, as he put a paw on the tree and gazed up into the sunhigh sky. They hadn't sent him or Grousejaw any sign of what was happening, not even a prophecy to help guide them in the direction they were meant to go. Rowanstar was the type to believe in his warrior ancestors no matter what happened to them, and had been known to grow angry if any cat disrespected them. But with all that was happening and no sign from them, how could even he not have doubts?
